As a longtime local homeowner, businessman, and community member, Rod has a desire to give where he can. Rod believes that the success of Caulkins flows from a lot of hard work, a bit of luck and the support of friends, family, colleagues and customers. He is grateful for the success he has enjoyed, and believes it is important to “pay it forward”. One cause that is particularly close to Rod’s heart is adult education, literacy and scholarship programs. As a board member on the Adult Education Advisory Committee of Prince William County and Richmond Virginia Board of Education, Rod is able to donate both time and resources to programs designed to assist adults in pursuing higher education and especially in getting their GED’s. The Board meets quarterly to collaborate regarding providing educational opportunities for adults who wish to acquire competencies necessary for further employment, education or personal enrichment. Rod has personally subsidized several individuals in Prince William County in obtaining their GED's. Read more about it here Caulkins Construction contributions to GED's program.

Caulkins is strong supporter of Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization that builds and rehabilitates simple houses with volunteer labor, donations of materials and money and the help of the homeowners, who are partners in the projects. Caulkins regularly contributes building materials and cabinetry to Habitat’s projects in order to help less fortunate members of our community obtain decent, affordable housing.

Caulkins has recently associated with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. All Caulkins’ vans display information about a missing child in our area.

Other organizations to which Caulkins is a regular contributor are as follows: American Red Cross, Project Mend a House, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Capital Area Food Bank.
